You have probably heard about the Allegheny Elks Lodge on the North Side. Even if you aren’t a member, Lodge #339 has gained some local and national attention for hosting Banjo Night every Wednesday.

Meet the oldest bartender in the ‘Burgh

Banjo Night has got nothing on George Martin. George has been a member of the Allegheny Elks Lodge #339 for over 60 years and has been involved in all aspects of the Lodge. George is also the oldest regularly scheduled bartender in the Pittsburgh region.

To celebrate his 90th birthday, George served 90 beers. To celebrate his 91st birthday, George served 91 beers. George will be pouring drinks behind the bar at the Elks Lodge this Friday to celebrate his 92nd birthday. Proceeds from the bar will benefit the Elks Charities and the upkeep of the Elks Lodge building. You can learn more about George Martin and his work with the Elks Lodge in this 2019 interview with the weekly paper, the Pittsburgh Current.
