PHOTOS: Chewbacchus lets the Wookiees roar for its 10th anniversary parade

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus jumped to lightspeed for the tenth time on Saturday Feb. 1, 2020 in New Orleans. The Krewe also honored Peter Mayhew who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars trilogy and passed on April 30, 2019. Mayhew paraded with the Krewe as Emperor for Life in 2013 and 2015. The parade is the first major parade to kick off the Carnival season that ends on Mardi Gras Feb. 25, 2020. The Krewe, filled with passionate and devoted nerds of science-fiction and fantasy, marched with the theme of “The Roar of the Wookiee.” The Krewe has a new route this year stretching from the Bywater to the French Quarter.
