As Lent comes to a close, Christians all over the world are celebrating Good Friday.
Good Friday is widely observed as the day Jesus was crucified.
Saint Roch’s Campo Santos Cemetery has the Stations of the Cross built into chapel-like wall niches in the exterior walls. A pastor starts at the Crucifix in the center of the cemetery and then leads the parishioners to each station where they genuflect and pray. There is a call and response where the priest reads a passage, and everyone then prays together.
The stations lead you though Jesus’ journey from conviction through crucifixion and burial.
