Tune into our episode of Eat Play Stay in the city of York to see some of our favorite spots to explore near Pittsburgh.

Where is the city of York, PA?

York, also referred to as York City, is in the heart of South Central Pennsylvania. Just north of the Mason-Dixon Line, York was once home of the Continental Congress and was the Capital of the United States from September 1777 to June 1778.

Four hours east of Pittsburgh, just west of Philadelphia, and north of Baltimore and Washington, York is undergoing a bit of a renaissance of its own. It’s simultaneously a geographic and historic crossroad, as well as a cultural crossroad. Not only are there miles of hiking and biking trails to explore, York is home to a diverse community of small business owners.

I Love Ice-cream

Milkshakes, ice cream, bubble tea, Thai rolled ice cream — I Love Ice-cream has it all. If you’ve never had Thai rolled ice cream, I Love Ice-cream is the perfect introduction. Watch as the liquid base and your favorite toppings are poured onto a frozen pan right in front of you. The concoction is mixed, spread, and scraped into ice cream rolls for a refreshing treat.

If you’re not in the mood for ice cream, explore their bubble tea menu for a drink that’s both unique and delicious.

The Left Bank

If you’re looking for a fresh, sustainable option, Chef Sean Arnold’s The Left Bank is the spot to be. They responsibly source their food and partner with local vendors to create meals that are both delicious and responsible.

The Left Bank honors York’s roots and its proximity to the Mason-Dixon line by serving a mix of both northern and southern cuisine. To top it off, pair your meal with a killer cocktail.

Tutoni’s Restaurant

An area of the city that was passed by for so long is now the home of the restaurant revolution in York. Tutoni’s Restaurant is located on North George Street alongside a slew of great restaurants that are working together to make this corner of the city a can’t-miss destination.

Tutoni’s — built around their self-serve wine dispensers — was designed so that you can spend the entire night there. Enjoy Italian cuisine made from scratch and live entertainment upstairs, then head downstairs to the speakeasy.
