THE Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, has passed away at the age of 76.

In our city, where music anchors our souls, we are all mourning. It feels like even the skies are opening up and crying out as a storm passes through the city this morning.

Here is what some New Orleanians are saying as we grieve the passing of a musical legend, who taught us all what it means to be a Natural Woman and that we all deserve R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
