Best Bets: Beignets, beer, barracudas and belting out chorus songs

Devour beignet, chug your beer and belt out a song or two with this week's best bets!

It’s October, baby! That means it’s fall in New Orleans. (Or Summer Lite, as some may know it.) And fall in New Orleans means fall festivals, Halloween goodness and slightly less heat.

For this first week of October, here are our recommendations for your best bets.

Beignet Fest

The Beignet Fest will be celebrating its third year, and they have this festival thing down pat now. You’ll find the traditional sweet beignets of fried dough with powdered sugar, but expect some savory, cheesy and seafood-filled options as well. In addition to 30 various beignet dishes from different restaurants and food trucks, the fest features an Artists Market, Kid’s Village and VIP experience for those who like having upgraded mobile restrooms. (At festivals, this can be a serious perk!)

Where: Festival Grounds at City Park
When: Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
