Blue Sparrow: bringing global eats to our local streets

Hop onboard; we’re taking Pittsburgh behind the window of Blue Sparrow’s food truck. Plot Twist: it’s a 1950s Greyhound bus.

We’re excited to kick off a video series that takes Pittsburghers behind the scenes and onboard some of our local food trucks. Our first spotlight is on Luke Cypher – the founder and personality behind Blue Sparrow.

Luke’s team serves up globally-inspired street food with a local twist.

We sent videographer Matt Dayak out for a ride-along to capture the sights, smells, sounds and stories behind what makes Blue Sparrow such an eclectic part of the neighborhoods it interacts with.

For 2019, Blue Sparrow has scaled up from their traditional food truck to add a vintage Greyhound Bus to the mobile food fleet. You can find both the truck (and the bus) parked and serving up the good stuff at various locations around Pittsburgh.

Where to find the Blue Sparrow Food Truck or Bus

Catch up with Blue Sparrow on the regular at:

  • 11th Hour Brewing (Lawrenceville)
  • Commonplace Coffee (Mexican War Streets, North Side)
  • Brew Gentlemen Brewery (Braddock)
  • Dancing Gnome Brewery (Sharpsburg)

And you can occasionally catch the Blue Sparrow team when they post up for special events at:

  • Hitchhiker Brewing (Sharpsburg)
  • Grist House Brewery (Millvale)
  • Roundabout Brewery (Lawrenceville)

Save the Date! Very Local x Blue Sparrow event coming soon

Plus, save the date for our very local, very global collaboration with Blue Sparrow on Saturday, June 1, 2019.

In 2012, Aadam moved to Pittsburgh. He's currently parked (sans chair) in Lawrenceville and plans to stay a while. On the weekends, you'll find him driving a small green bus (Porter Tours) as he leads tours at local breweries. Got a fun story idea? DMs are open: @asoorma.
