Missing your Jazz Fest food favorites? Here’s where you can get them

The 51st New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is a little different this year, in the physical sense.

Pythian Market

Working with Jazz Fest vendors, Pythian Market is making some of the festival’s food selections available for pickup like crawfish bread, Prejean’s gumbo and La Divina’s sorbets.

Pickup and delivery are available from Noon to 8 p.m. on April 23-25 and the same times from April 30-May 2.

The folks at Big River Foods (aka the Crawfish Monica stand) and Caluda’s Cottage Catering (crawfish strudel and white chocolate bread pudding) are bringing you their dishes at a pop-up on April 24-26 and May 1-3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. They’ll also have Mahony’s crawfish etouffee cheese bread on the menu. The first 500 orders of crawfish bread will get a free Miller Lite bottle beer — just like being at the Miller tent! The location will be at Mahony’s Po-Boy, 901 Iberville St. Click here to preorder.

They include the crabmeat beignets from Loretta’s Pralines, fried fish tacos from Taqueria Corona and the yakiniku po-boy from Ajun Cajun. Click here to see the options.

After much of the festival season was canceled, the partners at Blue Oak BBQ knew they had to come together to help the community. 

“For musicians and restaurateurs, the cancellation of our festivals is a near fatal blow,” said Ronnie Evans, partner of Blue Oak BBQ in a news release. “We knew we needed to use our resources to feed these vulnerable groups right now and to offer a morale boost in whatever small ways we can.”

So they turned a warehouse at 3330 Gravier Street into a drive-thru relief center to cook free festival favorites for those in need while bands play acoustic performances for all “attendees.” It’s free for those in need (furloughed and laid off hospitality workers and musicians) and drive-thru style to maintain social distancing. 

Faux Fest is running all eight days of the festival from Noon to 1:30 p.m. Participating food vendors include MoPho, Frey Smoked Meat Company, Johnny Sanchez and Parkway Bakery.
