UPDATE March 12 @ 8 pm:

We have been closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in Pittsburgh. We have made the tough decision to cancel our events for Saturday 3/14 and Sunday 3/15.

If you have purchased tickets for Pi(e) Squared on Saturday or Sunny Side Up Brunch on Sunday we will be issuing refunds through Eventbrite. We will continue to monitor the situation locally and nationally as we make decisions about future events beyond this weekend. Our intent is to reschedule these events for the future, as the situation permits. We appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any questions about our events – please contact us.

ℹ️If you are looking for more local updates – check out our guide on who to follow for Pittsburgh specific coronavirus updates.

Sunny Side Up is a recurring pop-up brunch partnership between Very Local and Pittsburgh Sandwich Society. This month, we’re back in Lawrenceville at 11th Hour Brewing.

Pre-sale tickets are required to attend. We will offer three seating times: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Walkups are only available after the brewery opens to the public at 1 p.m., pending availability.

Your $12.50 pre-sale ticket gets you:

  • 1 menu item of your choice*
  • 1 beer from 11th Hour (a nonalcoholic drink option also available)

*Gluten-free and vegetarian modifications are available upon request.

The Menu

  • Brunch Reuben — Corned Beef | Swiss Cheese | Truck Made ‘Kraut | Dippy Egg | Thousand Island Dressing | Toasted Rye Bread
  • Green Eggs and Ham — Scramby Pesto Eggs | Back Bacon | Irish Cheddar | Arugula | Garlic Aioli | Croissant
  • Burrit-O-The Irish — Braised Brisket | Fried Potatoes | Scramby Eggs | Red Cabbage | Irish Cheddar

Additional food and drinks are available for purchase. Remember to bring your ID if you plan on drinking.

Why pre-sale tickets?

We need to accurately prepare for available seating indoors. Purchasing a ticket in advance also helps Pittsburgh Sandwich Society accurately order and prep food, since brunch is not on the regular menu. Don’t get left out in the cold. Yes, prices have increased for 2020, but if you purchase a presale ticket, you still save a few bucks.

Stephanie Brea

Stephanie has been organizing events since 1998, starting with a series of motorcycle rides through the Arizona desert to support her father’s business. She’s probably crossed your name off a presale ticket list or served you a beer somewhere around town.

An undergrad degree in poetry means she has lots of unpractical knowledge about iambic pentameter, while a brief stint as a copy editor for Alternative Press taught her that twenty one pilots is stylized in all lowercase letters.

Wanna throw a party in a vacant parking lot? She’s interested.

At the onset of COVID-19, Stephanie took on the role of podcast producer for The Slaw. She’s pretty familiar with a microphone, thanks to that aforementioned poetry degree, and she’s got the wherewithal to ask Epicast Studios for help. She listens to too many true crime podcasts, and currently records from her bedroom.

If you know of someone who would be the perfect podcast guest, send her an email.
