If you frequent the Pittsburgh breweries, then there’s no doubt you’ve seen some Pittsburgh food trucks. These memorable, mobile pop-up eateries carry fresh eats and lively personalities everywhere they go.
As part of our food truck video series, we are excited to showcase Beau Mitall – owner, chef and jack-of-all-trades at Alberta’s Pizza. We sent videographer Benton Palermo out with Beau to spotlight this truly unique take on carry-out pizza.
Who is Alberta’s Pizza
Put simply, Alberta’s is Beau Mitall. The name comes from Beau’s late mother – Alberta Gail.
“(The name) Alberta’s lit a fire under me. Because you want everything to be perfect when you name something after a family member. You want to honor the family member” said Mitall.
After living and working in New York City for 20 years, Beau found himself running a restaurant in Johannesburg, South Africa before returning to NYC and then moving his family to Pittsburgh in 2015 to spread the “pizza gospel” as he puts it.
