While everyone is “waiting for the man with the bag,” we made our spirits bright last week at LUNA Fete by taking in the sights and lights of one of the most dazzling art festivals around. Top that off with a juicy Saints win against the Bucs, the whole city feels like we’re getting a deal from the Special Man. Let us have it!  And it just gets better. Like a NEW parade! To check it out, you’ll need to jingle all the way to New Orleans East.

New parades are a big deal, but this parade is a FIRST for New Orleans East. Sure to bring some holiday cheer, City Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen said the parade will have signature throws and feature a variety of holiday characters and, of course, the man with the bag. Here’s where to go! đźŽ…

Get into the swing of things with this holiday event to jump, jive an’ wail from Sabertooth Swing.

Saturday

12 p.m.: Jingle On The Boulevard – New Orleans East
This is the first holiday parade in the East. New parade. New throws. We’re in.

2 p.m.-8 p.m.: Lights On The Lake – Canal Lighthouse
A decked-the-halled-out boat parade begins at 5:30 p.m. with music, food trucks and hot toddies.

Sunday

12 p.m.: Big 9 Second Line – Ninth Ward
Social Aid and Pleasure Club The Big Nine with the Ninth Ward Steppers hold their annual second line.

7 p.m.: Caroling in Jackson Square
Amateur and professionals are welcome. This crooning Christmas event is open for everyone.
