🎄 ‘Twas the weekend before Christmas

by Clint Durrett | December 20, 2018

‘Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the city, good things were happening between the lake and the Mississippi. A new parade was had in the East with care, while New Orleans broke a record thanks to a media pair. We talked to DJ Soul Sister who explained her badass beats. And the fog swooped in last night, which filled all the streets. Now there’s this newsletter with events you can pick. They come just in time – ahead of Saint Nick. 🎅

Wasn’t that fun? – Jingle on the Boulevard … (The rhyming, we agree, was also on point.)

The Jingle On The Boulevard parade was a BIG first for the East. The parade had 12 floats and dozens of dancing groups. If you missed this recipe of fun firsts in the East, here’s the photos we captured to feed that FOMO. 📸

Crushin’ it in the Supa-dome – Breaking records

We wanna hug it out with y’all about how awesome it was THAT A WORLD RECORD WAS BROKEN last weekend. Jessica Dupart (@darealbbjudy) and Raynell Steward (@Supa_Cent) beat out Hong Kong for the biggest toy giveaway in the world. File this one under: Local Win🏆

Soul Sister, flow sister – DJ Soul Sister’s groove

“I’m only looking for records that make me happy, and then those are the records that wind up going in my set” – DJ Soul Sister. We spoke to the Queen of the Rare Groove about what she brings to the turn-tables when she spins her vinyl wonderland into our ears. We also spoke to her on how her groove gives back to society. Here’s how she spins success. 🎧

By gosh, by golly – Bougier than brunch

(GASP!) We know. What could be bougier than brunch? (Shrugs) How about Réveillon dinner? (Nods) How about Réveillon dinner at the Country Club? (Faints) Well, it’s true. And let’s face it: brunch is fantastic. But combine the forces of a fine brunching spot with a festive feasting holiday tradition and you have an occasion for sashaying into the Bywater. We sent in a victim to the delicious den to detail the dinner.  🥂
