Parades, parades and more parades! And other things, too!
Only two and a half hours west on Interstate 10 is a Mardi Gras unlike anything you’ve ever seen and probably unlike anything you’ve ever imagined.
Valentine’s Day? What’s that?! This year, it was the first day of Uptown parades hitting the streets.
Maybe you’re sober-curious, or interested in cutting back but don’t know where to start, or what a sober Carnival would look like.
Saturday’s early Uptown parades where highlighted by the Krewe of Freret with the theme “The Music of New Orleans” including a giant “Shorty Gras” float modeled after Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews.
After a brief few-hours break on Saturday, the Knights of Sparta and the Krewe of Pygmalion lit up the evening, which concluded five different parades that rolled on the Uptown route.
It was a lovely day as the Krewe of Cork stomped in the name of love on St. Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2020 in the French Quarter.
Most musicians hope to stay relevant for twenty years. Johnson, who is eighty, has been in the game since he was a boy in the Lower Ninth Ward. He’s the voice behind one of Mardi Gras’ most famous songs, ‘Carnival Time.’
Uptown parades start this weekend! Grab your ladders, dranks and patience… it’s Carnival time!
Of course, we’re all about that fun. But to ensure it’s fun for everyone, we think it’s important to bring something serious up before we’re in the middle of the party.
